Lesson 2 Part 2: Why Do We Do What We Do?

We discovered in Part I, Attitude is everything and bigger is not Always Better.

Solomon 2:4 – I tried to find meaning by building huge homes for myself, by planting beautiful vineyards. V 9-10 So I became greater than all.  Anything I wanted, I would take, I denied myself no pleasure.

  1. GOD PLANS THE BUILDING

  2. WE DO THE CONSTRUCTION BUT MUST CONTINUE TO CHECK OUR HEARTS.

    • After review, we will continue with Points 3 to 5 of Part II.

  3. KEEP FOLLOWING GOD’S HEART.

After examination, do whatever it takes to get back on “His focus”.

There have been times, I had to lay what I was doing on the altar and give it back to God.  When I picked it up again, I had new direction and a new attitude and heart.

Illustration:  I remember when my son, Brian was going to make his first CD.  He was excited but he began to feel uneasy about the project.  He began to search his heart and realized, he wanted to make this CD for the wrong reasons.  He wanted to be like his brother.  So he placed the project on hold (on the altar) and went on doing his ministry as usual.  After a year of prayer, one day God said, “Brian, you ready to do this project”.  And someone walked into the office and gave him the money to make the CD which was huge.

Whenever you step into the arena of “doing something great” for God, you will fight many emotions, fear, insecurity, jealousy, greed and being overwhelmed.

You are still the “one” for the task but the enemy will do everything to destroy you.  Many times it is through us following our “feelings” and emotions that we get sidetracked and even “Quit”.

Yes, this is part of our growing and maturing process.

4. TAKE TIME TO RENEW AND GET REFRESHED.

Just as a vacation rest the body, it will also rest the soul!  You have to make time “to rest” or you will get “burned out”.  Even Jesus went apart from his disciples and the crowd so He would not come apart.

5. YOU ARE WRITING YOUR PERSONAL STORY TO YOUR FAMILY AND THE NEXT GENERATIONS.

We only have one time to get it right.  Yes, we will get discouraged, sometimes there will be a Plan B and it seems all is going wrong. That is why our day to day instructions and strength comes from our Father who gave the assignment.

“Watch your expectations”.  There will be unhealthy and healthy expectations.  Many times they will not be the way you expected, people will not be there to hold up your arms, money is tight, but God will help you complete what He has called you to do.

Our Father knew you were and are the one for the task.  He will help you all along the way, every step He is teaching you, training you, helping you, strengthening you and He gives you favor with God and Man.  Your goals will come to pass.

And you will grow and go, and God will get the glory!
